Designer
shoes inspire me. Pushing the boundaries of what’s possible, both structurally
and aesthetically, they face almost no constraints; as long as they can be
physically worn all other design elements are possible.
I have a strong passion and weakness for
shoes. They can be beautiful and make an outfit, and give you great confidence.
When wearing heels, they really compliment the body. They push your posture
into a shape which shows off all your curves and makes you walk in a different
way so you show off everything.
In
my work I really push those qualities and make my pieces truly become something
completely different compared to the ‘high heel shoe’ which I start with.
I
use ceramics because I can really push the material to create my designs. I
really enjoy using clay to create my pieces because you can do so much with it
when it is in its plastic stage. Within ceramics I will also be creating unusual
colours with glazes, transfers and coloured flocks which create my textures and
surfaces. These qualities represent my research from fashionable, contemporary
designer shoes.
